Oversee and coordinate all night shift operations at our Hatchery facility, monitoring equipment functions, maintaining the best possible environment for hatching the healthiest, highest quality chick for placement with Perdue Farms growers.
Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Monitors operation of 34 setters and 34 hatchers, ensuring consistent proper temperature and humidity levels are maintained. Conducts and records machine checks every three hours. Identifies and resloves common equipment malfunctions in a timely manner. Monitor hall temperatures, ensuring consistent proper temperature and humidity levels are maintained.
Coordinates receipt of nightly egg shipments verifying accuracy of shipping documentation. Arranges flocks within egg room to facilitate identification and movement at requied set times. Reload egg trucks with filled buggies. Ensures egg room is cleaned and disinfected weekly and/or as required.
Perpares egg set sheets ensuring proper egg rotation based on egg pack dates. Coordinates setting of approximately 54 egg buggies nightly, transferring from farm buggies to setter racks. Assist with egg setting as required.
Prepares hatchery for daily processing. Performs star-up of boilers, traywasher and separator machine, loads box de-stacker, moves 108 empty egg buggies from tray wash room to hatch halls, ensures trash is emptied.
Coordinates and performs salmonella intervention, pouring formaldehyde in hatchers at designated intervals following transfer.
Performs specific duties during both production and non-production hours in a timely manner with OSHA Lockout/Tagout and Company safety regulations. Monitors performance of equipment and informs maintenance and production supervisors of potential problems. Maintains log books by applying math skills through the equipment PM stages in order to calibrate machinery to performance standards.
High School or equivalent
0 -2 years. Reading, writing and analytical skills are required. Must have all personal tools and have the ability to learn to use and operate hand tools and industrial shop equipment.
Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements
1. Position is active. On the plant floor activities such as troubleshooting and re-design of existing systems are routine. 2. May need to move equipment occasionally. 3. May need to access files, supplies and equipment. 4. Position requires an associate to have the ability to move throughout the complex and all facilities. .5. When in a plant environment: Exposure primarily consists of wet and moist floors which include metal and plastic grating surfaces. May be exposed to temperatures of 28 degrees to 100 degrees Fahrenheit with both ambient and 100% humidity. May handle product 25 degrees to 50 degrees Fahrenheit. May be exposed to noise ranges of 50 db to 110 db. May be exposed to all chemicals used in poultry, food, processing facility. Must wear and use protective and safety equipment required for the job as directed by the Company.
