The purpose of a Technical Trainer is to train associates on the equipment. This individual will provide remedial and supplemental training to associates to assist them in learning proper job functions, safe work habits, rotation procedures and appropriate food safety measures. The Technical Trainer will help train and evaluate associate’s comprehension, understanding of equipment operating parameters, and basic trouble-shooting skills for all major equipment on the operating floor. The Technical Trainer will also provide documented feedback to the Onboarding Team Lead on associate’s performance and equipment understanding.

Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Introduce associates and temporary associates (when applicable) to their jobs, including basic training; rotation procedures; safe work habits, clock-in and clock-out procedures as well as monitor associates for proper GMP’s and safety equipment (hair/beard net, ear plugs, safety glasses, aprons, boots, etc.). Insure associates are given the information and training to be successful in their department and at Perdue.

Continually pursue a skill level at or above the required certification level for all positions within the Perry Cook Processing Departments

Insure associates have been given and understand safety policies and practices including the Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) forms for each machine.

Review performance with associates and advise of strengths and weaknesses. Conduct quality and quantity checks of associate’s performance and document on pre-determined evaluation period. Forward documentation of all evaluation forms to the Onboarding Team Lead.

Monitor associate’s progress and report to supervisor on a weekly basis. Facilitate incorporation of associate into work team.

Adhere to all safety requirements including PPE preventing and reporting unsafe acts and conditions, Lockout-Tagout procedures and Process Safety

Continually monitor and evaluate Operator(s) equipment comprehension on a predetermined basis. This includes holding training classes with new and existing key positions and operators in order to provide continuous education on the equipment on the floor

Understand and articulate Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) as applies to current position being trained

Minimum Education

High School or equivalent not required but beneficial. Proficiency in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint preferred.

Experience Requirements

Worked a minimum of 6 months of consecutive work history with one employer within the past 3 years.

Completion of “Train-The-Trainer” course.

Completion of machine technical training for all machines in the plant.

Experience Preferred

Experience in poultry processing/manufacturing environment preferred.

Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements

When in a plant environment: Exposure primarily consists of wet and moist floors which include metal and plastic grating surfaces. May be exposed to temperatures of 28 degrees to 100 degrees Fahrenheit with both ambient and 100% humidity. May handle product 25 degrees to 50 degrees Fahrenheit. May be exposed to noise ranges of 50 db to 110 db. May be exposed to dust, feathers and all chemicals used in poultry, food, processing facility. Must wear and use protective and safety equipment required for the job as directed by the Company. Occasional exposure to carbon dioxide vapors 10ppm and chlorine less than 20 ppm. Able to stand for several hours. Work may include lifting (up to 50 lbs), reaching, bending, pushing boxes on conveyor assembly.
