Description

The Refrigeration Operator must safely operate the ammonia refrigeration system and its related equipment by adhering to the plant Process Safety Management Program, diagnose system problems and make repairs, make the equipment repairs as generated from work orders and be able to perform supervisor’s duties when needed. Tech must be able to maintain all boiler systems within the plant and facility in support of the plant operation.

This is a Sunday-Wednesday 6A-6P position.

Responsibilities/Duties

  • Must perform all tasks and repairs within the Perdue Safety Policies and procedures
  • Must supply own hand tools necessary to operate system, perform preventive inspections and make repairs.
  • Must perform all tasks and repairs within the Perdue Safety Policies and procedures and be part of the PSM team, be FIT tested for a respirator.
  • Must be able to walk a long distance in the performance of rounds and checks throughout the shift on the complete Ammonia System.
  • Must be able to safely isolate and pump down any section of all systems.
  • Must be able to do line opening procedures
  • Must be qualified to receive or transfer ammonia in all plant systems
  • Must be qualified to do routine maintenance on:
    • Ammonia compressors.
    • Air compressors.
    • Ammonia liquid pumps.
    • Ammonia system controls.
    • Refrigeration system condensers.
    • Air system drying equipment.
    • Air system control
    • RETA
    • Steam Boilers
    • Oil Boilers
    • CIRO
  • Must have clear understanding of refrigerant expansion with pressure temperature variables
  • Must be able to direct and train operators
  • Working knowledge of departmental PC’s.
  • Must perform as a Hazardous Material (HAZMAT) team member after certification from Perdue.
  • Troubleshoot and repair Refrigeration and Ammonia problems.
  • Troubleshoot and repair Electrical Controls on the Refrigeration and Ammonia Systems.Maintain all engine rooms, compressor rooms and roof areas in a high state of cleanliness at all times

Details

Ability to work for 12 hours in a stationary position or travel on a wet, moist, dry, greasy, floors which may include medal or plastic grating surfaces with up to 4 hours in a single interval. Ability to work from various ladders and work stands. Exposure to and work in temperatures of less than 40 degrees and up to 75 degrees with ambient humidity, noise of 110 db, and light intensity range of 50 to 100 foot candles. Must be able to lift 50 pounds. Bending, twisting, lifting, reaching, sitting, and grasping varies in repetitions, distance, degrees, angle, weight, heights, longest interval of time, objects grasped, and body positions depending upon the maintenance task required. Exposure to chlorinated water 5ppm, dry ice, caustic detergents, lubricating oils, hydraulic oils, and other chemicals found in a poultry processing plant. Must use and/or wear protective and safety equipment required for the job.
