Summary

The Buying Group Manager supports the Foodservice division's sales initiatives for all product segments. The position fosters and enhances relationships with select Buying Group’s corporate organization and their membership to support business growth. This person will be training and motivating our sales team related to Buying Group strategies along with holding sales agencies accountable to defined performance criteria are essential elements of the position.

The ideal candidate will live near a major airport hub. Ideal locations are Denver or Phoenix.

Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Works to accomplish the company’s strategic initiatives – as identified by Foodservice Management.
  • Works collaboratively together as a team with Division Managers, Segment Leads, other Perdue Associates and Sales Agency to accomplish overall goals.
  • Responsible for primary communication and program management with assigned Buying Group corporate structure, membership distributors and operators .
  • Develops individual strategic plan for the Buying Group corporate level and membership location through incorporating the Foodservice Distribution Sales & Marketing Plan.
  • Ensures Perdue’s resources (Sales Management, Marketing, Product Managers, R & D and Inside Sales Representatives) are utilized effectively and efficiently.
  • Communicates specific Buying Group concerns, market conditions, sales agency performance to internal management and sales agency’s management to help address potential hinderances and opportunities to meet plan.
  • Has high degree of competence for our categories to effectively provide training and insights related to Buying Group needs to our sales team and sale agency personnel.
  • Delivers incremental sales through Buying Group targeted membership and segments within Foodservice Plan through specific initiatives with the analysis of Volume, Price, Spend and Mix to maximize competitiveness & profit.
  • Maintains high level of product knowledge, selling skills, presentations skills and time management.
  • Develops and manages programs for key customers. Conducts regular formal business reviews with key customer.
  • Manages deviated pricing for all customers in assigned group to insure profitability.
  • Required to travel extensively including air travel in most weather conditions and occasionally requires weekend work.

Minimum Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in a related field plus 10 years of related experience. Should have an understanding of the fundamentals of the Foodservice industry, i.e., Corporate and Buying Groups, distribution, operators, brokers and product knowledge.

The Ideal Candidate will have:

  • Extensive knowledge of Foodservice distribution network, direct sales and experience at the operator level (face to face selling).
  • Previous exposure to sales training and sales processes.
  • Experience in the development of strategic plans for driving sales at the distribution and operator level.
  • Sales management, marketing and execution experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
