Summary

The Director of Store design will lead the design team to conceptualize and execute on all store design elements (space planning, fixture and furniture selection, finish and material selection, interior graphics and art, exterior signage, etc.) consistent with the overall brand image. This position is a great fit for a problem solver who has the dual ability to manage the design aspect and the project management production requirements in a rapid growth environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Experience leading diverse group of people with varying levels of experience
  • Establish and document brand standards and store vision, including building an architectural resource library, approved prototype and Kit of Parts
  • Lead store design presentations and ensure feedback on design innovations and functionality is included in current and future plan sets
  • Ensure third parties are managing to established timelines, cost parameters, and quality standards
  • Support construction management team by providing clarifications to architectural plans and design services for field modifications
  • Partner with construction management team on feasibility and value engineering studies
  • Act as liaison with permitting agencies or third-party architect on plan submittals
  • Manage segments of the MOD design team
  • Prepare test fits and review architectural drawings, sign packages, and supplier shop drawings for functionality and design intent

Basic Qualifications

  • Architecture degree with a 10 + years experience in architectural design. Prior experience in multi-unit restaurant design is preferred
  • Ability to create innovative, yet practical, designs by interpreting design objectives into unique and varied store locations
  • Knowledge of construction practices, means and method, including building systems and their impact on design, detailing and code requirements
  • Demonstrated ability using AutoCAD
  • An understanding and commitment to MOD’s values

  • Ability to execute multiple designs under tight deadlines
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills with an emphasis on building partnerships with internal and external partners, managing conflict.
  • A positive upbeat personality who believes in opportunities rather than obstacles

Physical Requirements

Office work involves remaining in a stationary position most of the time in front of a computer, using a keyboard, mouse and telephone. Regularly operate a computer and other office equipment. Occasionally move about the work site to access file cabinets, office equipment, etc. Exert up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or regularly move objects. Communicate and exchange information with co-workers and other individuals in person and electronically.
