Title: Public Infrastructure Laborer

FLSA Status: Full-Time Employee/Non-Exempt/Hourly

Reports to: Leadman/Foreman

Purpose: Perform day to day work as assigned by the foreman and project leaders.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain TCA company standards in all interactions, including but not limited to, interactions with clients and personnel.

  • Performs work requiring the use hand tools, power tools, and machinery equipment to complete assigned tasks.

  • Ensure company vehicle and equipment are operated and maintained properly, including but not limited to initiating any action needed to remedy malfunctioning or unsafe equipment.

  • Assist in spotting equipment operators for safe operation and positioning of equipment.

  • Load and unload machinery and/or tools to the appropriate location.

  • Maintain all safety standards on every job and while on TCA property.

  • Other duties and special projects as assigned.

    Other Duties:

  • Maintain uniform and PPE guidelines.

  • Attend to all meetings and work items in a timely fashion, as decided by the foreman.

    Supervisory Responsibilities: None

    Knowledge, Skills and Experience required (unless otherwise noted):

  • General knowledge of concrete, asphalt, construction and/or roadway maintenance and repairs.

  • Minimum one year work experience in a construction related field involving trucks and machinery, or

    equivalent vocational training.

  • Basic knowledge and skills with hand and power equipment used in basic construction and maintenance.

  • Knowledge of snow removal equipment and safe operation standards (CO only).

  • Valid Commercial Driver’s License and ability to pass TCA requirements.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors and co-workers.

  • Strong conflict resolution skills.

  • Working conditions are normal for fast-paced field work.

  • Frequent to consistently erratic and extended work hours, depending on seasonal necessities.

  • May require working in erratic and extreme weather conditions, depending on seasonal necessities.

  • Constant evaluation and adjustment of priorities.

  • Infrequent travel required.

  • Requires walking long distances over uneven ground.

  • May require excessive bending, standing, kneeling, repetitive movement, and twisting.

  • May include lifting 50 lbs or more based on field requirements. Proper lifting techniques required.

    The performance of this position may occasionally require exposure to the heavy machinery areas where under certain areas require the use of personal protective equipment such as mandatory hearing protection.

    Material and Equipment Directly Used:

  • Company car.

  • Hand and power tools including but not limited to jack hammers, skid plate tampers, chain saws, weedeaters,

    shovels, brooms, and other hand equipment.

  • Heavy machinery including but not limited to steel wheel rollers, ruber tire rollers, crack sealing machines,

    loaders, and other heavy machinery.

  • Safety PPE including but not limited to vests, eye protection, and gloves.
