The overall purpose of this position in the Weigh, Price, Label Department is to ensure Perdue product is correctly labeled and boxed for customer orders.
The hours and days of work are established as needed by operations and at the direction of management and, while generally as shown below, there may be changes (increased or decreased) by management as required.
Hours of Work:
Wed – Sat 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM,
Tue – Sat 7:00 PM – 3:30 AM or
Sun – Tues 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM or until production is complete. Overtime may be scheduled as needed and directed by management.
Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Set up lines and prepare for shift start.
Feeding totes to WPL lines in correct order, while maintaining required product flow with no disruption to WPL feeder.
Feeding and orienting product correctly on conveyor for correct label placement. Continually verifying date and product codes and examining packages for visible defects. Maintaining required product flow to achieve set goals and accountabilities.
Operator will verify that both product and case label machines have an adequate supply of labels. Prior to each new order, confirm that the information printed on product and case labels and the Image sell by date matches the information on the Ossid monitor display. Packing and orienting product correctly in box to product specifications. Continually verifying date and product codes and examining packages for visible defects. Maintaining required product flow to achieve set goals and accountabilities.
Operator will clean rollers and free of any glue build up. Will check temperature setting and maintain adequate supply of glue pellets in machine. Check each finished case for appropriate label and proper sealing of flaps. Rework product when necessary. Stack finished cases to proper product specifications.
Notify supervisor if any of the SOP’s cannot be followed due to lack of product, training or line operation.
Rotate through each line position
Maintain a safe and clean work area includes the cleaning of the production lines
Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.
High school diploma or GED equivalent. Basic reading, writing, and analytical skills are required. Must be able to comprehend and follow SOP’s
Worked a minimum of 6 months of consecutive work history with one employer within the past 3 years.
Experience in poultry processing/manufacturing environment preferred.
Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements
When in a plant environment:
Exposure primarily consists of wet and moist floors which include metal and plastic grating surfaces.
May be exposed to temperatures of 28 degrees to 100 degrees Fahrenheit with both ambient and 100% humidity.
May handle product 25 degrees to 50 degrees Fahrenheit.
May be exposed to noise ranges of 50 db to 110 db.
May be exposed to dust, feathers and all chemicals used in poultry, food, processing facility.
Must wear and use protective and safety equipment required for the job as directed by the Company.
Occasional exposure to carbon dioxide vapors 10ppm and chlorine less than 20 ppm.
Able to stand for several hours.
Work may include lifting (up to 50 lbs), reaching, bending, pushing boxes on conveyor assembly.
